Lights, Camera, Shriners!

Babyhawk's first full day in the big kids room was a success. Her report sheet said she played great with her friends. She was really into the baby dolls (Christmas idea! - she actually doesn't have one babydoll!) and loved singing (She is "singing" her ABCs in Spanish and English now at home - we will try to get video of this - it is hilarious!) She did an art project - which we will share once we get to bring it home. The teachers in the room are really sweet and Babyhawk seems to really be thriving with all of the activity they have going on in the room.
The weather was beautiful so we went outside last week to try out the new camera:

Look at those teeth! She has 12!!!:

She was inspired by the women's beach volleyball... she put on her headband and got down to puzzle business:

The sweetest ever:

We went to Babyhawk's first Shriners visit today. They are going to be keeping an eye on her progress and doing casting, bracing and the like. What an amazing place! First, it is run like the most well-oiled machine I have ever seen. You are not kept waiting more than 10 minutes for anyone and everyone seems to know where you have been, where you are going and who you are. Babyhawk had some initial intake x-rays in the jungle x-ray room (Papahawk and I got to stay in there with her so we got to wear the Superwoman and Batman lead aprons). They didn't see any issues with her spine or hips - which is the big problem with CP. Babyhawk is getting a brace to wear during therapy and at home when we are working with her. It will help her keep that right ankle straight and stretch her calf muscle - which should improve her balance. She chose a pink brace with hearts. They casted her leg today for a form to build it and we will go back on the 5th to have it fitted. Here is Babyhawk in her hospital gown waiting for the docs...

We are still trying to figure out the video on this new camera - so we will post video soon! Have a great week!
