Best. Day. Ever.

There are no words for how I feel right now:

I hear the Rocky theme song in my head when I watch this! And to think, we were told she wouldn't do this for another 3-6 months. Nothing is going to stop her!

Baby no more... she's a little girl!

We were invited to a dinner party this weekend that was "Top Chef" themed. Papahawk was one of the Cheftestants and he prepared grilled pork with a cranberry bourbon glaze and grilled stuffed butternut squash with mushrooms, garlic and mozzarella cheese. It was yummy, as were all of the dishes. Papahawk won a gold medal for presentation and you can see why:

Babyhawk got to hang out with so many kids at the party! And she got a pink chef's hat as a party gift:

She is growing up so fast. The big girl things she did this weekend:

Helped with the laundry:

Took a big girl bubble bath:

Pulled up all over the place! Papahawk saw her pull up to STANDING this morning, but of course the camera wasn't ready and I wasn't anywhere near - but so exciting!:

And finally, my favorite, drank out of a big girl cup (using both hands!!):

Babyhawk wishes her buddies, twins G and J, a happy Third Birthday on Monday!

Have a great week and a relaxing and fun labor day weekend!

Figured it out...

Here are the videos that go with the previous post.

Papahawk was doing the finishing work in the bathroom on Sunday. Here is Babyhawk trying to be as loud as the construction work:

Lights, Camera, Shriners!

Babyhawk's first full day in the big kids room was a success. Her report sheet said she played great with her friends. She was really into the baby dolls (Christmas idea! - she actually doesn't have one babydoll!) and loved singing (She is "singing" her ABCs in Spanish and English now at home - we will try to get video of this - it is hilarious!) She did an art project - which we will share once we get to bring it home. The teachers in the room are really sweet and Babyhawk seems to really be thriving with all of the activity they have going on in the room.
The weather was beautiful so we went outside last week to try out the new camera:

Babyhawk trying to escape her nap:

Look at those teeth! She has 12!!!:

She was inspired by the women's beach volleyball... she put on her headband and got down to puzzle business:

The sweetest ever:

We went to Babyhawk's first Shriners visit today. They are going to be keeping an eye on her progress and doing casting, bracing and the like. What an amazing place! First, it is run like the most well-oiled machine I have ever seen. You are not kept waiting more than 10 minutes for anyone and everyone seems to know where you have been, where you are going and who you are. Babyhawk had some initial intake x-rays in the jungle x-ray room (Papahawk and I got to stay in there with her so we got to wear the Superwoman and Batman lead aprons). They didn't see any issues with her spine or hips - which is the big problem with CP. Babyhawk is getting a brace to wear during therapy and at home when we are working with her. It will help her keep that right ankle straight and stretch her calf muscle - which should improve her balance. She chose a pink brace with hearts. They casted her leg today for a form to build it and we will go back on the 5th to have it fitted. Here is Babyhawk in her hospital gown waiting for the docs...

We are still trying to figure out the video on this new camera - so we will post video soon! Have a great week!

Stocking bars and sleeping over...

Babyhawk had another exciting week. She is moving up into the big kids room at daycare and they are letting her have afternoon playdates over there until she is comfortable to make the complete transition. They say she is really enjoying being back together with some of her buddies who moved up to that room several months ago. We had sad news this week too, as Babyhawk's physical therapist is moving away. Her and Babyhawk had so much fun together and she was an amazingly patient and caring woman. We look forward to meeting the new therapist in a week or so and getting back on track.

Babyhawk had her first sleepover Saturday night at her Aunt Jen and Uncle Hubie's. We were hosting a couples stock the bar party for our good friends Kristie and Brendan and we knew the law school crowd would be a little rowdy for the little one. She had a great time hanging out with all of them and had no issues being away from Mamahawk and Papahawk (although the parents may have had some issues being away from her....)

Enough talk. Here are her latest dance moves:

And now photos from the stock the bar party. This was the first time this big of a group of us have gotten together since graduation and it was a blast! The bride, Kristie, is in the middle in the pink dress:
Kristie and me with another soon to be blushing bride Holly:

Eric and Carla - who are exchanging vows in less than three weeks!

One of the old married couples - Jessica and Rob - who I think are celebrating their one year anniversary shortly...

The boys. The groom, Brendan is the third from the right:

And that is it... because.... Mamahawk dropped the camera after this photo! If anyone knows where to get a camera repaired please shoot me an email... We can't miss Babyhawk's first steps which are going to be sooner than later!

Walk like a babe...

Babyhawk enjoyed her first weekend of August by watching Paphawk push the mower (This seems to be something she really enjoys every week!). I caught some cute and attitude-filled moments:

Here is the promised walking video:

And I posted this video purely for the audio. The picture is awful - I think Papahawk was trying some new feature - but you can hear her expression of "AW!" everytime she falls:

She spent this evening mastering her new ball popping toy she got for her birthday:

This is an example of how talkative she has become and how many important things she has to say:

And the tiling in the hall bathroom just needs grouting. Papahawk has turned into a pro:

Have a fantastic and fun week everyone!
