What a difference a year makes....

Valentine's Day marked a year from when we got the official Hemi Cerebral Palsy Diagnosis, along with a list of all of the things our daughter would never do. It has been a year of tears, anxiousness, guilt and fear about the future BUT it has also been a year of education, pride, reward and great joy. She is an amazing little girl doing such amazing things - things that her neurologist, just a year ago, said she couldn't do. She is walking. She is using her right hand. She is talking.... a lot. She is smart and beautiful and all things a little one her age is supposed to be.
So, in the last year I have gone from incredible sadness to the heights of anger, fear and guilt to the place I am at right now and a place where I feel comfortable with her and with me. It is a place of determination and knowing that she will do anything she wants to do and I will be right alongside her doing everything in my power to make it happen. She has taught me so much and I wouldn't change her or this experience for anything.

Okay! Now to the action. Babyhawk modeled both of her new Jayhawk tees from Aunt Marli in the same day due to a necessary costume change:

And, as a fitting end to this post, some more swimming material! I know this is the same old stuff, but this is what Babyhawk loves more than anything and she is really really good at it:

Have a great week...

Frozen in time and Superbowl prediction!

We really don't have original material for you this Sunday. But for your enjoyment .... Our frozen trees etc and Babyhawk's official 2009 Superbowl prediction. (She was right on last year if you recall...):

Hate to tell you Grandmas, but she isn't always an angel. This is her yelling for some more olives....Just like Aunt Marli does!:

And there you have it. Have a great start to February! Plan to come and see us in May.... we have an event in the works for pediatric stroke awareness day! Strong steps toward you from Babyhawk!

Snow day!

We had quite an ice storm Tuesday Night/Wednesday morning, so we got a snow day! We are thankful that we still have power...
You should always wear proper lounging snow day attire:
The icing:

We lost quite a few branches off of our trees and I'm afraid our spiral weeping willow may not recover:

Then... it started to snow more!:

Babyhawk suited up in her bibs and big winter coat and went out to explore:

We don't have a sled so we improvised:

No babies were hurt.... the snow broke her fall!
Stay warm!

Pow-Pow-Power Wheel

It has been quite a week. Babyhawk has been walking so much! She took about 20 or so steps on Saturday at the basketball court.
She cracked up the entire congregation at church today. She has a habit of yelling "Yeah" and clapping for things she really enjoys and there were a couple of songs the choir sang today that she was really digging. YEAH! At the top of her lungs... embarrassed mom... embarrassed dad... tickled congregation.
After church she cuddled up with Gibson. She has been really into wrapping her "babies" up with blankets and rocking them. It is too sweet:

Nap time was an adventure today. Sinatra got too close for comfort:
That's better:

Babyhawk had to get really bundled up today for her walk with the dogs:

We have been trying to occupy ourselves inside because of the frigid temperatures. We got Babyhawk this Mini-Quad Princess Powerwheel. Don't bother leaving a comment. We know she is spoiled. They, conveniently, placed the "go" button on the right side so we can write this toy off as therapy... She is still getting the hang of it:

And a few parting words:

Have a great week!

Baby its cold outside....

It was cold this weekend so we did a lot of inside activities.

Coloring:

Riding our bike:

And looking cool:

Babyhawk had her 18 month check up and all is well. She is still really tall - but no longer baby Shaq - and her weight has hit a plateau, but the Doc says that is normal for a busy toddler...

Have a great week and Rock Chalk!
