The Party

Marli and Jared came into town the night before the party and gave Babyhawk her gift. She is a very neat present-opener:

Marli and Jared were such a huge help getting the party all together. We had to do some serious positive thinking to get the storm headed our way to divert... Here is the set up this year. Balloons, hot dogs, sno cones, cupcakes, sprinklers, pool, bubbles, swings and corn hole:

A good friend has a cupcake business so we got the goodies from her this year. They were almost too pretty to eat:

We almost lost Babyhawk for the day after this swing ride.... her lids were barely open and this was before any real sprinkler fun!:

She found her second wind though:

She had so much fun with "J":

She asked for her teacher and babysitter Reece a million times until she got to the party:

Babyhawk's bestest friend "Wee-Wee." They call each other that and give each other the best hugs. Wee Wee is the most caring little girl ever. She helps Babyhawk navigate and is her best cheerleader:
Wee Wee did not want to get wet, but Babyhawk's favorite game is to dump cups of water on people:

One of Babyhawk's former teachers Brit-Brit:

Enjoying some hotdogs and sno cones:
She asked me to sing this to her many times this weekend... Her new favorite song I guess:

The cupcakes weren't just beautiful, they were delicious!:

Babyhawk and her other buddy Jay:
Her third wind:
K is trying to figure out what it is Babyhawk is eating.... its a cake-pop:

L, K and Babyhawk loved the bubbles!:

AND SHE CRASHED!!! Too much fun.
Have a great week everyone and thanks for coming out to party with us! It has been another awesome year with Babyhawk in our lives and she has grown so much in the last 12 months. Can't wait to see what is next!

YEE HAW!

We went on quite an adventure the last week or so! Marli was getting married in South Dakota so we hopped on a plane and headed up there for all of the festivities.

Babyhawk relaxing the night before the flight:

She was so good on the plane! She slept for two legs of our flights there and back and she watched movies most of the rest of the time:

Geema (her version of Grandma) and Papa treated Babyhawk to some frozen custard once we arrived:

Babyhawk's "look":

We went to the park in Spearfish, SD where we used to have family picnics every summer:

Babyhawk tested out the water in the stream:

We did some shopping for western wear for the chuckwagon ride. Marli found some awesome boots:
Papahawk and I snuck off to Wyoming early one morning to visit Devil's Tower:

We then made a trip to Rushmore and went through Deadwood (my birthplace) on the way:

The Presidents:

Then it was on to wedding festivities. I hung out with my awesome nieces A and K all day the Friday before. We got our nails done, acted silly and got caught in an AWFUL hail storm!:

Then we all went on the Chuckwagon! It was an awesome time! Here are the kiddos in their cowboy hats and bandanas:

The paparazzi was there...:

Babyhawk had a blast with her Cousin B:
Papahawk remained in "character" the entire night:

Notice the pearl snaps from our earlier shopping trip?!?:

Our guitarist was awesome... even though she couldn't play some VanHalen for Rory and Papahawk:

The food was awesome too!:

Papahawk took the older kids on a hike.

Here is the view from our suite at Sylvan Lake Lodge where the wedding took place:

THE WEDDING!! (I don't have any pictures because all three of the Hawk Family were in the ceremony, but I "borrowed" these from Marli's new sister in law - we will have many more soon!):

Babyhawk had to hydrate the next day:

We took the Needles Highway back from Sylvan Lake to show Papahawk all the scenery:

We had some fun at the community center in Belle Fourche:
And then it was time for our trip to Wall - where I lived for several years. We saw a deserted town along the way:

The Badlands:

Driving the wagon at Wall Drug:

Hitching a ride on the gigantic jackalope:
Babyhawk had a blast in the dancing fountains:
She had a crowd of people watching her carrying on (that is her screaming)... and then.... she spotted me in the crowd and the accident happened:
No one was injured and both girls bounced back pretty quickly...
And sadly then it was time to hit the road. We packed in a lot of fun and Papahawk saw just about everything there was to see! Babyhawk was bummed and has asked for her cousin A, her Geema and Lola and Jadie (Marli and Geema's dogs) every single day since. Waiting in the airport:
We picked the perfect week to come back from vacation as it was a short holiday week! We headed up to a friend's house for the fourth and they put on a bash! There was a pool (it was rainy and cold so we steered Babyhawk clear) a bouncer, snow cones and a band! Oh yeah... and balloons!:
What says the fourth better than a blue sno cone?!?:

We caught up with old friends. It was so great to see Casey!:
And the Birthday festivities have begun. Babyhawk's Second Birthday Bash is scheduled for next Saturday here at our house. It is a sprinkler party and you are all invited! Bring a swimsuit and get ready for some fun. Email me if you need more information.
We got Babyhawk's big gift this weekend.... a big girl bed! She absolutely loves it. I'll update you later this week on how well she actually stays in it...:

Congrats again to Marli and Jared who are moved in up here near us. There house is adorable! We also have big Congrats for Babyhawk's Aunt Stephanie who got engaged last night! Welcome to the family Josh!
Have a great week!
